"Telescope Cameras For Astro-Photographers"

Sooner or later, you're going to point your pocket digicam at the moon -- and be incredibly disappointed that the little smear of light in the image doesn't look like this photo.

Why not? Magnification, for one thing. But even if you could rig a pocket cam to a telescope, it wouldn't necessarily turn out well. Cameras designed for astrophotography are designed to maximize exposure times, not megapixels.

As the light passes through the DSLR camera’s lens, it falls onto a reflexing mirror and then passes through a prism to the viewfinder. When the picture is taken, the mirror snaps back up, allowing the open shutter to expose the digital sensor which captures the image.
